Coaching Question Generator

When children are stuck, frustrated, or withdrawing, our instinct is to solve the problem for them. Good coaching shifts the work back to them by asking questions that provoke insight rather than providing answers.

Help your child think through the next step

The Coaching Questions tool offers prompts for conversations when your child is stuck, discouraged or working through a challenge. Choose the situation that fits to see a small set of questions rather than a ready-made solution.

You can request another set of questions or copy a prompt for later. Use the wording as a starting point for a conversation, and leave room for your child to explain what they think.

Common Questions

How do I use the coaching questions?
Select a situation to see three prompts. Choose one that fits the moment, ask it in your own words and give your child time to answer.
Can I see different questions for the same situation?
Yes. Use the next-set control to cycle through the available prompts, or select another situation. You can also copy an individual question.
